Germany, Third Reich. A DRL Sports Badge for War Wounded, by Hermann Wernstein
(Deutsches Reichssportabzeichen für Versehrte). Constructed of gilded magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon overlaid by a mobile swastika, around central stylized initials “DRL” over a hollow void, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “WERNSTEIN, JENA”, measuring 38.72 mm (w) x 48.35 mm (h), weighing 17.5 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of finish, in near extremely fine condition.
