Germany, Third Reich. A Fire Brigade Honour Badge, II Class
(Reichsfeuerwehr-Ehrenzeichen II. Klasse). Instituted 22 June 1936 by Wilhelm Frick. (1936-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms bearing stylized red enameled flames, with a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a black mobile swastika, with a ring through the quadrants bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIRE FIGHTING”), unmarked, measuring 43 mm (w) x 47 mm (h), extensive fire damage evident, in poor condition.
