Germany, Third Reich. A German Driver’s Badge, II Class in Silver, by L. Christian Lauer
(Deutsches Fahrer-Abzeichen II. Klasse in Silber). Instituted 16 May 1930. (1930-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a stylized buckle around a raised letter “R”, with a central chariot on a hollow background, the reverse with a barrel hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “L. CHR. LAUER, NÜRNBERG”, measuring 39.10 mm (w) x 49.60 mm (h), weighing 15.1 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
