Germany, Third Reich. A Rare Air Defence Honour Medal, I Class
(Luftschutz-Ehrenzeichen I. Klasse). Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central raised mobile swastika, set within a circular pebbled ring bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM LUFTSCHUTZ” (“FOR MERIT IN AIR DEFENCE”), the reverse three and nine o’clock arms bearing a raised date of “1938”, unmarked, measuring 39.60 mm (w) x 43.16 mm (h), weighing 22.4 grams, a rare decoration in extremely fine condition.
