A Double Etched Army (Heer) Dagger by Richard Plümacher Sohn, Solingen

Measuring 393 mm with the scabbard on, this dagger features a 255 mm nickel-plated steel blade, magnetic, with unsharpened edges, remaining bright and crisp, and having a semi-sharp tip. Obverse illustrating a right-facing Army eagle, clenching a wreathed swastika in its talons, flanked by ornate floral designs on either end. The blade's reverse ricasso is maker marked with the Richard Plümacher Sohn, Solingen insignia, while the remainder of the blade incorporates the same floral design as that used on the obverse. It retains its crossgraining, with very faint scratches overall, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, and a natural shine, rating extremely fine. Its original leather washer at the crossguard junction has been lost to time. Crossguard with a finely-detailed Army eagle, a wreathed swastika clenched in its talons, oak leaf design on the ferrule and pommel, very light contact and bubbling on the pommel's end. Pumpkin-coloured celluolid grip features a series of nine parallel ridges, with two tiny chips evident, the dagger measuring 370 mm in length. The scabbard is nicely pebbled, magnetic, the bands exhibiting the traditional oak leaves design, each with rings, a single screw holding the throat in place, two-strap dagger hangers clipped to the rings, each with silver bullion wire interlaced with white threading uppers and dark green corduroy backers, silvered steel hardware, ornate oak leaf design on the hardware, each has an adjustable oval buckle with sliding metal adjustment, straps are looped around the hanger, marked "D.R.G.M." (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster) on both clips and on the hanger, scattered silvering wear on the hardware, the scabbard free of dents and measuring 281 mm in length. Extremely fine. (C:49)
