What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Heer. A Dress Bayonet, by Weyersburg, Kirschbaum & Co.

(Heer Bajonett). A well-preserved Heer dress bayonet, measuring 355 mm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 200 mm-long magnetic metal blade with a sharpened tip and semi-sharpened lower edge. Each side features a fuller, and the blade bears a maker’s mark near the reverse ricasso of “WKC” for Weyersburg, Kirschbaum & Co. of Solingen, beneath the firm’s knight’s helmet logo. The blade sits securely within a one-piece silvered zink alloy hilt, connecting to a crossguard with a hooked quillon and with an original black leather buffer pad covering the seam. The handle grip is composed of two pieces of polished staghorn fastened together with dual non-ferrous metal rivets. It completes with a pommel featuring an insertion slot and functional push button spring release. The bayonet is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of a black-painted magnetic metal shaft. A downward-pointing hook emanates from the outer side of the scabbard and connects to a black leather frog, securely stitched into a loop for belt attachment. The throat retains a functional spring catch, firmly holding the dagger in place during storage. Minor issues consistent with age and use are evident, and include some running marks to the black, oxidation of the metal feature, and some material fatigue to the frog. The set is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
