Germany, Heer. A Fighting Knife, by Lauterjung & Sohn
(Heer Kampfmesser). A well-preserved Heer fighting knife, measuring 26.5 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 13.5 cm-long, nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and lower edge. The reverse ricasso is maker marked with the classic “PUMA” logo of Lauterjung & Sohn, Solingen. It sits securely within a flattened silvered alloy crossguard. The handle consists of a narrow magnetic steel hilt with dark wooden handle grips, secured together with three magnetic rivets. It is accompanied by its original scabbard, constructed of a black-painted magnetic metal shaft. Emanating from the reverse of the shaft is a tight clip for attachment to a belt or uniform point. The throat retains a functional spring catch to firmly hold the knife in place during storage. Minor issues consistent with age and field use are evident, and include running marks to the blade and loss of scabbard paint. It remains in a near extremely fine condition.
