Germany, Luftwaffe. A Miniature Officer’s Dagger, by Stocker & Co.
(Luftwaffe Offiziersdolch, Miniatur). A Luftwaffe Officer’s miniature dagger, measuring 240 mm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 155 mm-long polished magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and edges. The obverse of the blade bears an inscription of “DVH”, topped by a gable, while the reverse is maker marked with the logo of Stocker & Co., Solingen. It sits securely within an aluminum crossguard, the obverse of which presents as a stylized Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with the seam covered by an intact black leather buffer pad. The handle grip is composed of a single piece of ribbed brown celluloid, with the ribbing retaining an original twisted and rolled metal cord. It completes with a rounded pommel featuring a double-sided wreathed mobile swastika. The dagger is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of a pebbled magnetic metal shaft, decorated with oak leaf designs near the tip. The upper third of the shaft features two integral bands with raised oak leaves, each completing in loops for the accommodation of a hanger. Minor issues consistent with age are evident, and include some loosening of the crossguard and minor tarnishing of the scabbard. It is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
