A Second Pattern Luftwaffe Dagger
Measuring 425 mm, with the scabbard on, this dagger features a 255 mm nickel-plated steel blade, magnetic, with dull edges and having a very sharp tip. The blade's reverse ricasso is unmarked. It retains its crossgraining, in addition to scratches overall, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, with scattered surface wear, edge nicks throughout, along with pitting, especially at the tip on the obverse. The black leather washer at the crossguard junction has hardened but remains intact. Silvered magnetic metal ferrule and bright aluminum hilt fittings which includes the embellished pommel, eagle crossguard and quillon, have surfaces with moderate surface wear and contact marks. Ivory-coloured celluloid grip exhibits light contact but is free of chips and crazing, ten rows of wrap on the grip are free of interruption and in terrific shape, the dagger measuring 387 mm overall. Silvered metal scabbard measures 295 mm, magnetic, with a traditional pebbled finish, crisp ball finial, the throat retained by one mounted screw, oak leaf bands with rings, free of dents, with overall silvering wear and surface rust evident. Near very fine.
