A First Model RLB (Air Raid Protection League) Dagger by Paul Weyersberg

A fine RLB (Reichsluftschutzbund/Air Raid Protection League) dagger measuring 398 mm with the scabbard on, and featuring a extremely well preserved 245 mm long nickel-plated magnetic steel blade, exhibiting very fine cross-graining, with very light scattered scratches and minor marks common to the extraction and return to the scabbard. It appears unsharpened with a semi-sharp tip, and is maker marked “Paul Weyersberg of Solingen” with the maker’s stylized logo on the reverse ricasso. The blade is diamond shaped, with the leather washer fully seated on the crossguard. The crossguard is constructed of solid nickel-silver, depicting a national eagle perched on top of a mobile swastika within a circle, exhibiting attractive patina from age. The grip is constructed of black textured leatherette on a wooden base, and is decorated with a first pattern RLB sunburst swastika insignia, The pommel is equally constructed of nickel silver and is slightly loose due to slight shrinking of the grip. The scabbard is constructed of steel with nickel-silver fittings. The core of the scabbard, similarly to the grip of the dagger, is constructed of black textured leatherette, with four period screws holding the tip and throat firmly to the dagger. Attached to the fittings of the scabbard is a well preserved single dagger hanger with a functional clip; overall in gently used better than very fine condition. (C: 160)
