What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, Kriegsmarine. An Officer’s Dagger, by Eickhorn of Solingen

(Kriegsmarine Dienstdolch). A Canadian veteran bring back, measuring 418 mm with its scabbard on, with a 252 mm long nickel-plated magnetic steel blade, with dull edges, and having a dull tip. The blade’s reverse ricasso is marked with the maker mark of Eickhorn of Solingen. Both sides of the blade feature two blood grooves, with only very minor surface marks common to extraction and return to the scabbard. The original felt spacer is well attached to the dagger. The fittings and cross-guard are brass, bearing an anchor design on both sides, with the addition of a blade release button on the maker marked side of the dagger. The celluloid grip is cream-coloured with pleasing tone. A single crack extends upwards on both sides of the handle. With seven rows of tightly wrapped twisted brass wires in the groves of the grip. The pommel exhibits a detailed Naval eagle standing on a wreathed swastika. The ornately-designed scabbard exhibits a lightning design, with a ball final, and two sets of brass hardware to attach the dagger to a dagger hanger. The throat is tightly held in place by a single period original screw with small dents throughout from period wear. The dagger remains very fine. Accompanied by a single dagger hanger, featuring gilt aluminum fittings, upper clip having been broken, fair.
