An Early Model 1933 SA Dagger by Ed. Wüsthof of Solingen
A fine example of a standard model 1933 SA dagger, measuring 370 mm with the scabbard on, and featuring a 219 mm magnetic nickel-plated steel blade, with sharpened edges and a very sharp tip. The blade’s reverse ricasso is maker marked with the stylized logo of “Ed Wüsthof, Solingen”. It is diamond shaped, with the obverse of the blade etched with the SA motto, “Alles für Deutschland” (Anything for Germany), retaining some of its original cross-graining, with light scratches on the blade common to to extraction and return to the scabbard, but without any rusting or pitting of any kind. The cross-guard is constructed of solid nickel, with moderate loss of finish and scattered contact marks and scratches, with eight deep, undarkened grooves, and a “SA” for “Sachsen”. The hardwood grip is mahogany-coloured with black undertones from storage or wear, with moderate chipping in the corners of the wooden grip. It sits tightly against the upper and lower cross-guard, fitting well in its place, with small gaps from shrinkage from age. The national eagle (Hoheitszeichen) sits snug in it place and is level with the wood, without significant gaps between the eagle and the grip. The roundel sits equally snug, and flush with the grip, featuring the SA logo within brown enamels. The pommel nut is hand tightened, with moderate marks to the nut from previous altering. The scabbard is constructed of brown-painted steel with nickel-silver fittings, with all four screws intact. Overall, this dagger is in near very fine condition.
