An Early Model 1933 SA Dagger by Gustav With of Solingen

A standard model 1933 SA Dagger measuring 368 mm with the scabbard on, and featuring a 218 mm nickel-plated magnetic steel blade, exhibiting extensive bruising, with moderate scratches, some being common to extraction and return to the scabbard. It appears factory-sharpened with a dull tip, and is maker marked “Gustav Wirth, Solingen-Gräfrath” with the maker’s stylized logo on the reverse ricasso. The blade is diamond shaped, with the obverse of the blade etched with the SA motto, “Alles für Deutschland” (Anything for Germany). The crossguard is constructed of solid nickel, with moderate loss of finish and scattered contact marks and scratches, with eight deep, undarkened grooves, and a “P” district mark for “Pommern”. The hardwood grip is mahogany-coloured with black undertones from storage or wear. It sits slightly loose within the crossguard, presumably from shrinkage, and fits generally well to the dagger. On the reverse, near the lower crossguard, the grip depicts a faint crack. The national eagle (Hoheitszeichen) sits snug in its place and is level with the wood without significant gaps between the eagle and the grip. The roundel sits equally snug and flush with the wood grip, featuring the SA logo with brown enamels. The scabbard is non original to this dagger - it is constructed of steel with nickel-silver fittings. The core is painted brown, but with considerable paint wear and scratches to the paint. All four screws appear to be original to the dagger and hold the fittings in place well. Overall, this dagger is in fine/as is condition.
