An Early SA Dagger by Richard Balke & S¡_hne
An Early SA Dagger by Richard Balke & Söhne - engraved "Alles für Deutschland" on the blade, maker marked "Rich. Balke & Sohne Solingen" with the company's "B." over "R. & S." over "S." insignia in the centre on the ricasso. Nickel plated fittings on the crossguards, SA Group marked "Om" (Ostmark) on the reverse of the lower crossguard, exhibiting very light contact and wear. Mahogany-coloured wooden handle with embedded aluminum eagle is near excellent with only one recess on the obverse, slight chipping below the SA insignia, does not fit tight to either crossguard. SA insignia exhibits slight crazing across the top. The blade has beautiful crossgraining, exhibiting the usual in and out runner marks, with a very sharp edge and tip. The scabbard fittings exhibit light contact, the dark brown body exhibiting contact and wear in the paint, with a slightly loose chape. Better than very fine.
