What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, SS. A Model 1933 Dagger, RZM 121/34

(SS Dolch). A very well-preserved SS Model 1933 dagger, measuring 38 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 22.5 cm-long nickel-plated magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and edges. Acid-etched onto the obverse of the blade is an inscription of “MEINE EHRE HEIßT TREUE” (“MY HONOUR IS LOYALTY”) in Fraktur script. Stamped onto the reverse ricasso is a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) insignia, topped by a code of “121/34” for a documented but as of yet unknown manufacturer, in turn set beneath double Sig runes. The blade sits securely within a nickel-silver upper crossguard which is marked with eight notches, distributed in groups of four at both the top and bottom. The handle grip is composed of a single piece of smooth black wood, carved into a curvature for a comfortable grip. Inset into the obverse of the handle is a silvered German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 25 mm (w) x 15 mm (h). Also inset into the obverse ricasso is a silvered and black-enameled SS insignia measuring 9 mm in diameter. Completing the dagger is a nickel-silver lower crossguard, similarly marked with right notches and secured in place with a rounded pommel nut which securely maintains the dagger’s structural integrity. It is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of a black-painted magnetic metal shaft. Nickel-silver fittings are secured to both the tip and throat with side rivets, with the latter retaining an integral loop for the accommodation of a hanger, as well as a functional spring catch to firmly hold the dagger in place during storage. It is accompanied by a matching hanger, constructed of a black leather strap retaining a functional magnetic metal spring for uniform suspension. Minor issues consistent with age and wear are evident, and include some running marks to the blade, minor oxidation of the nickel-silver features, and sporadic scratching to the scabbard paint. It is in an overall near extremely fine condition.
