A German Second Model Railway Official’s Dagger by Carl Eickhorn
An extremely well preserved second war German Second Model Railway Official’s Dagger, measuring 400 mm in length with the scabbard on. The blade is a total of 260 mm long, and is constructed of nickle plated steel blade, with dull edges and a pointy tip. The blade’s reverse ricasso is maker marked with the stylized logo of “Carl Eickhorn of Solingen”. It is beautiful polished also fully retaining its cross-graining, with only very minimal marks on the blade common to extraction and return to the scabbard, but without any surface wear or pitting of any kind. The brown leather washer is seated in its place underneath the cross-guard junction. The cross-guard is constructed of nickel-silver and backs onto a single metal washer with a three ringed design. Following the cross-guard is a glossy Bakelite grip, with an additional metal washer with a ringed design and a round pommel with a sunwheel swastika design. The scabbard is constructed of steel with a brushed finish with two dagger hanger loops with a ringed design an with attachment loops firmly secured to the upper end of the scabbard. The scabbard lip is tightly held in place by a single period original screw. This dagger is extremely well preserved and appears only lightly worn, with the blade beautifully preserved, the Bakelite un-chipped, and the scabbard free of scratches or dents. In overall virtually mint condition.
