Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

German Red Cross Enlisted Hewer with Frog

German Red Cross Enlisted Hewer with Frog - Measuring 413 mm with the scabbard on, this hewer features a 267 mm nickel plated steel blade, magnetic, with a serrated blade, blunt tip with blood grooves (fullers) on both sides and unmarked on the reverse ricasso. It retains its crossgraining, exhibiting light scratches, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, and a natural shine, with scattered surface wear evident on both sides, measuring 397 mm in length, better than very fine. The thick leather washer at the crossguard junction is dyed black, has hardened and remains in intact. The medallion has fine vaulting to the swastika on the bird’s chest and the cross in its talons, with a contact mark passing through one arm of the swastika and multiple contact marks on the raised oval rim around the insignia. There is a surface wear and bubbling present on both the crossguard and the pommel but is minimal. The obverse crisp checkered grip plate and the reverse smooth plate are in excellent shape, with little contact, held firmly in place with their original screws. The black painted scabbard is magnetic, silvered metal locket is retained via two screws, the finial without screws, matching black painted frog stud on the obverse, the body and frog with multiple contact marks and wear in the black paint, one small recess on the obverse, along with light contact on the finial and locket, from active use, measuring 280 mm in length. Accompanying leather frog is dyed black and remains moderately supple, with heavy, durable, quality stitching, reinforced with four rivets, fitting extremely tight to the scabbard, exhibiting very light wear and crazing, with cracking appearing only at the top where it folds over forming the belt loop, the frog measuring 67 mm x 220 mm. Better than very fine.
