What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Buyer's Premium

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

Twenty-Two Percent (22%) of the Hammer Price

Germany, HJ. A Late-Period Member’s Knife

(HJ Fahrtenmesser). A well-preserved, late-period HJ member’s knife, measuring 250 mm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 145 mm-long magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and lower edge. The blade is plain with the exception of an illegible and partially-visible Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo above a similarly obscured maker code. The blade sits securely within a one-piece, nickel-plated, zink alloy hilt with a hooked quillon and pommel for a secure grip, with the seam covered by an intact blackened leather buffer pad. Two pieces of pebbled black bakelite compose the handle grip, and are secured together with dual magnetic metal rivets. Inset into the obverse of the handle is an enameled HJ insignia measuring 15 mm (w) x 25 mm (h). It is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of a black painted magnetic metal shaft. The throat retains a functional spring catch, firmly holding the knife in place during storage. Riveted to the reverse of the shaft is a black leather strap which is looped for belt suspension. Issues consistent with age and use are evident, and include some tarnishing and running marks to blade, loss of nickel plating, and oxidation and loss of finish to the scabbard. The knife is in an overall very fine condition.
