Germany, HJ. An Honour Knife
(HJ-Ehrenfahrtenmesser). A rare HJ Honour Knife measuring 275 mm in length when inserted into the scabbard, featuring a 148 mm-long nickel-plated magnetic metal blade with a sharpened tip and edges. The blade is unmarked and sits securely within a magnetic metal crossguard with a hooked quillon. A handle, similarly constructed of magnetic, features an etched floral design at the pommel, bearing a central red-painted HJ flag with a black-painted mobile swastika. The grip is facilitated by two strips of pebbled black bakelite, held in place by two visible magnetic metal rivets. It is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of black-painted magnetic metal. The throat of the scabbard retains a functional spring catch, securely holding the knife in place during storage. A blackened leather belt hanger is secured to the scabbard by two magnetic metal rivets, and retains a functional magnetic metal snap button for attachment. The knife is fully unmarked. Scratching is evident to the blade, along with some oxidation and loss of paint to the metal features, as well as age-appropriate fatigue to the leather belt hanger. It is in an overall very fine condition.
