This is a fine Torpedoboot Iltis Mützenband/cap tally; constructed of golden embroidery on a black rayon backer; measuring 147 cm x 3.2 cm; near very fine condition with some light soiling on the embroidery.
Footnote: Footnote: The Iltis was a torpedo boat of the Reich and the Navy and was part of the predator class. The ship first served as a training ship, later drove inserts within the Spanish Civil War. In World War II the Iltis participated in several mining operations in the North Sea and was entrusted with a variety of Geleitschutz- and backup tasks. The Iltis fell in a skirmish with the British motor torpedo boats (MTB) after a torpedo hit off the Dutch coast in 1942.
