A Landwacht Polizei badge; in stamped silvered zinc; horizontal pin; unmarked; measuring 46 mm x 52 mm; near very fine condition. Footnote: In January 1942 Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler in his position as Chef der Deutschen Polizei im Reichsministerium des Inneren, (Chief of the German Police in the National Ministry of the Interior), established the Landwacht, to be utilized in guarding the prisoners of war within the borders of the Greater German Reich.
