An example of a second war period Kriegsmarine submarine badge “U-Boot Kriegsabzeichen”; in gilded zink; the obverse in the form of a horizontal oval laurel wreath, with a national eagle placed on-top of the badge clutching a mobile swastika, and a submarine in the center of the badge; the reverse plain, with a horizontal needle style pinback, a barrel hinge, and a flat wire catch; maker marked “53” for “Glaser & Söhne, Dresden” on the reverse; measuring 48.68 mm (w) x 39.97 mm (h); weighing 14.4 grams; with approximately 30% of its original gilt remaining; in overall better than fine condition.
