Germany. A Textbook Silver Grade Submarine Front Clasp by Schwerin of Berlin
A well preserved textbook example of a second war period silver grade Submarine Front Clasp “U-Boot Frontspange”; in silvered zink; the obverse with a central laurel wreath with a side profile of a submarine superimposed on the badge above two crossed swords, and witch six laurel leaves on either side of the wreath; horizontal tapered pinback with an integral hinge and a crimped round wire catch; maker marked “Schwerin, Berlin” and designer marked “Peekhaus” on the reverse; lightly vaulted; measuring 76.32 mm (w) x 24.16 mm (h); weighing 19.3 grams; with approximately 80% of its original bronze wash remaining; in overall very fine condition.
