Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Blockade Runner Badge, by Schwerin
(Abzeichen für Blockadebrecher). A badge constructed of patinated and silvered tombac, the obverse with a large ship breaking through waves with a large eagle clutching a swastika on its stern, surrounded by a border of silvered chains being broken by the ship near the bottom, the reverse present a broad banjo style vertical pinback, a barrel hinge, and a flat wire catch, marked Otto Placzek, Berlin (Designer) and Schwerin, Berlin (Manufacturer) on the reverse, measuring 50.95 mm (w) x 48.96 mm (h), weighing 31.8 grams, and in near very fine condition.
