A complete and well-preserved Blockade Runner Badge set, consisting of a badge constructed of silvered and patinated tombak, the obverse consisting of a circular chain link wreath, with a central depiction of a blockade runner cutting through waves, the bow topped by a German national eagle in mid-flight and clutching a mobile swastika in its talons, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, designer marked “OTTO PLACZEK, BERLIN” and maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 48.90 mm in diameter, weighing 31.8 grams, accompanied by a stick pin miniature of identical composition and construction, unmarked, measuring 25.77 mm in diameter, weighing 6.5 grams; both accompanied by a period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a blue rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted blue velveteen medal bed, opening with a functional spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 105 mm (w) x 80 mm (l) x 24 mm (h), minor wear resulting in loss of finish is evident to the decorations along with material fatigue of the case, a complete and original set in near extremely fine condition.
