Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Coastal Artillery Badge, by Hermann Aurich
(Kriegsabzeichen für die Marine-Artillerie). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid by a central coastal artillery gun with waves in the background, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Hermann Aurich, Dresden, measuring 41.58 mm (w) x 54.49 mm (h), weighing 24.6 grams, unmarked, most of the finish has been lost, in overall very fine condition.
