Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Coastal Artillery War Badge, by Friedrich Linden
(Kriegsabzeichen für die Marineartillerie). Constructed of gilded and patinated zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central coastal artillery gun with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 42.11 mm (w) x 55.22 mm (h), weighing 31.0 grams, with moderate loss of finish evident throughout, in very fine condition.
