Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Coastal Artillery War Badge, by Rudolf Souval
(Kriegsabzeichen für die Marineartillerie). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central coastal artillery gun with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Rudolf Souval, Vienna, measuring 40.97 mm (w) x 53.75 mm (h), weighing 22.5 grams, with only minor oxidation and loss of finish evident, in near extremely fine condition.
