Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Coastal Artillery War Badge, by Schwerin
(Kriegsabzeichen für die Marineartillerie). Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central coastal artillery gun with its barrel raised and extending beyond the left edge of the wreath, the reverse with a block hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 41.94 mm (w) x 54.36 mm (h), 30.6 grams, with minor loss of finish and repair visible to the pinback with moderate scratching throughout the area, in near extremely fine condition.
