(Zestörerkriegsabzeichen). Instituted on 4 July 1940 by Dr. h.c. Erich Raeder. A Destroyer War Badge constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, composed of an oak leaf wreath with a German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika at the top, depicting a side-view of a destroyer cutting through a wave, with the bow of the ship extending over the wreath, reverse presents plain with a centre catch for stabilization and horizontal coke bottle-shaped pin, a black hinge, and a flat wire catch, maker marked SCHWERIN BERLIN 68, hand-engraved with the name BRAUN, measuring 44.34 mm (w) x 53.76 mm (h), weighing 28.7 grams, and in extremely fine condition.
