Germany, Kriegsmarine. A High Seas Fleet Badge, by Friedrich Orth
(Flottenkriegsabzeichen). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a frontal depiction of a battleship cutting through waves, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Orth, Vienna, measuring 44.17 mm (w) x 57.52 mm (h), weighing 29.1 grams, with most of the original gilt and silver finish lost, in overall very fine condition.
