Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Kriegsmarine Auxiliary Cruiser Badge
(Kriegsabzeichen für Hilfskreuzer). Constructed of gilded feinzink and magnetic metal, the obverse with a Viking longship sailing over the northern hemisphere of the globe, with an oval border of oak leaves tied together at the bottom by a ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse plain with crimped barrel hinge and a tapering banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 44.43 mm (w) x 57.66 mm (h), weighing 29.3 grams, some loss of gilt evident but otherwise in a near extremely fine condition.
