Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Minesweeper War Badge, Owner-Marked
(Kriegsabzeichen für Minensuch-, U-Boot-Jagd- und Sicherungsverbände). Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central depiction of a sea mine exploding, the reverse with a block hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, the reverse bearing an etched owner’s name of “F. MÜLLER” with a number of “M36343” and absent a maker’s mark, measuring 44.35 mm (w) x 54.82 mm (h), weighing 25.1 grams, with loss of finish through, in very fine condition.
