Germany, Kriegsmarine. A U-Boat War Badge, by Schwerin
(U-Boot Kriegsabzeichen). Re-issued on 3 October 1939 by Karl Dönitz. (1939-1945 Issue). Constructed of gilt tombac in the shape of a horizontally oriented oval laurel wreath, with a national eagle placed on-top of the badge clutching a mobile swastika, and with a submarine superimposed in the center of the badge, the reverse plain, with a vertical slender banjo style pinback, a barrel hinge, and a round wire catch, unmarked Schwerin, measuring 48.24 mm (w) x 38.91 mm (h), weighing 27.0 grams, and in near very fine condition.
