Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with a central U-Boat set across the badge on a hollow background, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked but with the characteristics of manufacture by an unidentified maker using the Wiedmann design, measuring 48.72 mm (w) x 39.68 mm (h), weighing 20.6 grams, with most of the finish lost, in very fine condition.
