Germany, Third Reich. An Elbe River Pilot’s Identification Badge
(Elblotse Kennzeichen). Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of an oval disc with a pebbled border, bearing a central raised German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, topped by an inscription of “DEUTSCHES REICH” (“GERMAN EMPIRE”) and above an inscription of “ELBLOTSE” (“ELBE PILOT”), the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, stamped with an issue number of “163”, marked with a silver content number of “800”, measuring 40.58 mm (w) x 55.52 mm (h), weighing 40.4 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
