Germany. A Kriegsmarine Blockade Runner Badge by The Worker’s Union of Gablonz
(Blockadebrecherabzeichen). Constructed of silvered and patinated zink, the obverse with a large ship breaking through waves with a large eagle clutching a swastika on its stern, surrounded by a border of silvered chains being broken by the ship near the bottom; the reverse plain, with a vertical round wire pinback, with a ball hinge and a crimped flat catch; marked “Otto Placzek” for the designer, and “M.U.K. 4 Gablonz” for the manufacturer; measuring 49.98 mm in diameter; weighing 29.6 grams; with all of its original silvering worn off due to age and wear; in overall better than very fine condition.
