A German Imperial Naval Officer Corps Goblet to Retiring Lieutenant Commander Jacobs
Naval Officer Corps 1879-1900; In beautifully hand chased silver in an art nouveau style (Jugendstil) with very high relief, marked with the German national (reichsmark) crescent moon and crown hallmark, Hansen hallmarked, marked "800" (silver) and maker marked "M. HANSEN KIEL" on the bottom, engraved in running script "Den scheidenden Kameraden Korvetten-Kapitän a. D. Jacobs das Seeoffizier-Corps 1879-1900" around the circumference just under the rim, the goblet divided into three panels, each featuring the image of a ship framed by a floral motif, with large blooming flowers below, repeating stylized Hansen insignias below around the circumference, the protruding base with a repeating shell design around the circumference, measuring 103 mm in diameter at the mouth, 88.5 mm in diameter at the base and 185 mm in height, scattered tarnishing, very light contact on the bottom, extremely fine.
