A German Fallschirmjäger Grouping; Prisoner of War in Egypt - This fascinating lot of items belonged to German Paratrooper Karl Roder, a recipient of three awards: the Para Badge, the Wound Badge and the War Merit Cross. Captured, Roder spent a period of time as a POW in Egypt. Included here are the following items: Luftwaffe Pay Book (Soldbuch), dated with an initial entry of February 10, 1941, with multiple stamps and entries; his Workbook (Arbeitsbuch), dated July 11, 1921, some pages stamped; his hardcover German Labour Front Book, dated July 11, 1921, some pages with pasted in stamps; his foldout German Labour Front Contribution Card, dated July 11, 1921, with pasted in stamps; and an award document indicating that he was a recipient of the black Wound Badge, dated 1943. Also included is a pair of fur-lined leather gloves; five photographs, two of which have postcard backs and another that is embossed stamped and dated December 26, 1940; two magazine clippings with photos of a woman contortionist, with Egyptian script on the reverse; a four colour Berlin city map; a black ink map of the Pappenberg area of Bavaria; a 1942 calendar book, with entries and a maps of the world section; a 1945 calendar book with entries; a 20 Hymns from the German Protestant Hymnal booklet, with journal entries; a Torpedo bicycle gear shift instruction booklet; a "Prosit" (Cheers) table card; assorted letters and correspondence; plus a mystery envelope marked "An das Brauntpaar" (To the Bride and Groom) with a card inside, possibly an invitation.
