An Early Luftwaffe Pilot’s Badge by Brüder Schneider of Wien
A textbook example of a fine quality manufacture “Flugzeugführerabzeichen”; two-piece oval badge constructed of a nickel-silver wreath and matching eagle; the obverse consisting of a wreath with laurel leaves towards the left side of the wreath, and oak leaves towards the right side of the wreath, separated by three small ribbon-like loops on the bottom, with a large eagle with spread-out wings superimposed on the badge clutching a swastika in its talons; two rivets on the reverse; vertical needle style pinback, with a barrel hinge and a round wire catch; maker marked with the stylized logo of “Brüder Schneider of Wien” on the reverse; measuring 65.84 mm x 53.33 mm; weighing 42.5 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.
