Germany, Luftwaffe. A Bomber Clasp, Gold Grade with Pendant
(Frontflugspange für Kampf- und Sturzkampffliger in Gold mit Anhänger). Constructed of gilded tombak, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a swastika, surrounding a central winged bomb constructed of silvered non-magnetic metal, flanked on each side by nine oak leaves, with two loops descending from the bottom edge of the wreath to accommodate of gilded zink star pendant flanked by clutches of laurel leaves, the reverse with a central visible rivet securing the bomb in place, with a barrel hinge and tapering horizontal pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, the clasp measuring 76.02 mm (w) x 25.48 mm (h), the pendant measuring 35.25 mm (w) x 12.93 mm (h), weighing 23.5 grams overall, the pendant has lost most of its gilt finish and three small gouges are visible to the tip of the pin, in overall near extremely fine condition.
