Germany, Luftwaffe. A Bomber Clasp, Gold Grade, with Star Pendant

(Frontflugspange für Kampf- und Sturzkampfflieger in Gold mit Sternanhänger). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of a central circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a swastika, surrounding a central winged bomb, flanked on each side by nine oak leaves, with two loops emanating from the lower edge of the wreath to accommodate a pendant in the form of a central starburst flanked by clusters of laurel leaves, the reverse with a central visible rivet securing the obverse bomb in place, with a barrel hinge and tapering horizontal pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, the clasp measuring 76.20 mm (w) x 25.74 mm (h), the pendant measuring 35.55 mm (w) x 12.98 mm (h), weighing 22.2 grams overall, demonstrating the loss of most of the gilt finish, in better than very fine condition.
