Germany, Luftwaffe. A Fallschirmjäger Badge, by Berg & Nolte
(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a diving Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Berg & Nolte, Lüdenscheid, measuring 43.04 mm (w) x 53.34 mm (h), weighing 29.5 grams, demonstrating the loss of most of the gilt and silver finish, a “Type C” badge in near extremely fine condition.
