Germany, Luftwaffe. A Fallschirmjäger Badge by F.W. Assmann & Söhne
(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, maker marked with the logo of F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, 43.84 mm (w) x 53.77 mm (h), weighing 25.0 grams, loss of finish evident, with a slight crack to the side of the wreath adjacent to the upper rivet, in overall very fine condition.
