Germany, Luftwaffe. A Fallschirmjäger Badge, by Wilhelm Deumer, Ludenscheid
(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen). Instituted on 5 November 1936 by Hermann Göring. Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, overlaid by a swooping Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets holding the obverse eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “W. DEUMER LUDENSCHEID” on reverse and the number “11154” scratched into reverse, measuring 42.72 mm (w) x 52.94 mm (h), weighing 39.9 g, in overall near extremely fine condition.
