Germany, Luftwaffe. A Flak Badge
(Flakkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, set around a central Flak 88 with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a ball hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked by with the characteristics of a well-documented variation produced by an unidentified manufacturer as seen on pages 238-239 of “The Flak Badges” by Marc E. Garlasco (2008), measuring 45.98 mm (w) x 66.34 mm (h), weighing 36.1 grams, in extremely fine condition.
