Germany, Luftwaffe. A Flak Badge
(Flak-Kampfzeichen der Luftwaffe). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central Flak 88 with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a ball hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 46.04 mm (w) x 67.60 mm (h), weighing 39.3 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner, the lid bearing an embossed and gilded inscription of “FLAK-KAMPF-ABZ.”, the interior with a blue rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted blue card stock medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 75 mm (w) x 82 mm (l) x 26 mm (h), demonstrating moderate material fatigue throughout the case, in overall better than very fine condition.
