Germany, Luftwaffe. A Ground Assault Badge, by A.G.M.u.K
(Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). Constructed of silvered and patinated zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaying a stylized cloud from which a lightning bolt emanates and strikes the ground, the reverse with three visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “M.u.K.” for Metall und Kunststoff, Gablonz, measuring 41.86 mm (w) x 54.90 mm (h), weighing 25.0 grams, with total loss of finish and some oxidation evident, in very fine condition.
