Germany, Luftwaffe. A Ground Assault Badge with Award Document, to Obergefreiter Friedrich Almendinger
(Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe mit Verleihungsurkunde). Constructed of silvered and patinated zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, on top of a stylized cloud from which a lightning bolt emanates and strikes the ground, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting a rounded integral catch, unmarked, measuring 45.08 mm (w) x 56.86 mm (h), weighing 32.1 grams, with oxidation and loss of finish evident, a mid-war example in very fine condition; accompanied by its award document, constructed of off-white paper with black ink, named to “OGEFR. FRIEDRICH ALMENDINGER” of 1./Flakregiment 26, issued at division headquarters on 23 September 1942, featuring the handwritten signature of Generalmajor (Knight’s Cross, 18 May 1943), measuring 207 mm (w) x 145 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
