Germany, Luftwaffe. A Late-War Flak Badge, by F.W. Assmann & Söhne
(Flakkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central Flak 88 with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, double maker marked with the logo of F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, and an LDO code of “L/64” for the same manufacturer, measuring 46.05 mm (w) x 62.30 mm (h), weighing 28.1 grams, demonstrating all of the characteristics of the final production of Assmann Luftwaffe Flak Badges produced in early 1945, in overall near extremely fine condition.
